No idea what's going on in this play. I don't think it's the actors faults - they speak their lines really well, Jude Akuwudike is full of energy and makes a fantastic entrance through the groundlings. There's a funny jailor, the jailor's daughter has the best lines, and a very vivid imagination!
There are two Princes, there are Amazons, love rivals, a prison break! The Globe stage has even turned into a minmalist forest.
Maybe, it's the modern-bethan dress - the extreme minimalist setting gives very little idea of where we are or who people are, their status or anything. It does make us focus on the action and the lines, which are beautifully presented - but where are we and who is everyone?
Worth seeing for Hey Nonny Nonny done in the style of Florence and the Machine...And a woman unable to make a choice between two suitors because they are both.. too excellent!!!! We party on...to the happy ending!
Plus, Shakespeare, Jude Akuwudike and Francesca Mills making clog and Morris dancing cool since 1634!
