Beautifully danced and scored ballet based around the life of Jacqueline du Pre, eminent cellist. The main characters are the cellist herself growing from girl to married woman and sadly developing a disease which prevents her playing; the cellist's husband (a conductor) and the embodied spirit of the cello itself. Less Beauty and the Beast's Be Our Guest, and much more soulful and emotive.

Seen in flashbacks as the cello's past vinyl glories come out of the shadows, the cellist's creativity is passionately portrayed in dance with an ecstatic and loyal cello. Bad news tho, the cello is soon ousted in the cellist's affections by a husband and a lot of touring. When the cellist's health declines, the cello is still there, like a faithful friend, which makes it all the more emotional

somehow.

Has a similar vibe to the Red Shoes - enjoy!
